Welcome to the

Consortium for Premium
Carbon Products from Coal

In some way, every aspect of our daily lives is touched by carbon materials. Activated carbons are used for water and air purification, carbon black is used to reinforce tires and graphite is used in products from electric motors to sporting goods. The Consortium for Premium Carbon Products from Coal (CPCPC) is directed to work on the production of high-value carbon products from coal. Current research activities include projects on such materials as graphite, activated carbon, anthracite, pitch, carbon fibers, carbon black, carbon foams, and carbon from coal-fired power plant ash.
