Since Penn State established the Penn State and Dalian University of Technology (DUT) Joint Center for Energy Research (JECR) in 2011, the Center has been actively supporting faculty and student exchanges and research collaborations at both universities.

Seven Penn State students recently returned from the Dalian University of Technology (DUT) in China as part of a six-week study abroad program to generate interest among junior and senior undergraduate students in business, economics, and policy as related to energy and the environment. During the program, students gained an understanding of how China, which has the second largest economy in the world, is dealing energy and environmental challenges caused by the growth of the Chinese economy.

Third Joint Center for Energy Research Workshop a Success

On March 21-23 Penn State and Dalian University of Technology held the third workshop for the Joint Center for Energy Research (JCER). The workshop was held in Dalian, China and was attended by over 80 faculty, students, and administrators from both universities. 

The workshop consisted of presentations of current research endeavors by various faculty members as well as discussions around further collaborations. The group also toured Dalian University of Technology research laboratories.
