The PA Biomass Energy Association (PBEA) held it’s first conference and expo on October 2-3, 2012 in Harrisburg, PA. The EMS Energy Institute, which is a founding member of PBEA, had a display at the event highlighting the various biomass activities at the Institute. In addition, Bruce Miller, associate director of the EMS Energy Institute gave a presentation, Characterization of Biomass Feedstocks for Combustion Applications, related to his biomass research activities.

The goal of the PBEA conference was to bring together a broad range of expertise needed to expand the use of clean, innovative biomass heat and power technologies pertaining to the use of biomass in the residential, small business, commercial, institutional, agricultural, and industrial sectors. The conference attracted over 100 people from government and industry.
