Corey HoydicCorey Hoydic is an outstanding student in his senior year with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering program. Corey is also in the Schreyer Honors college. Corey’s research involves the development of statistical tools to represent the heterogeneous characteristics of petroleum reservoirs and he plans to use these tools to catalog various reservoir models. When a model for a specific reservoir is desired, he plans to use his indexing scheme and a search algorithm to retrieve the model most similar to the one being studied.

Varumporn Pimsen is an outstanding student in his senior year with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering program and she has also been named the Student Marshall at the Fall graduation ceremony at PennState. Varumporn is continuing the work initiated by Tianrui and developing a Bayesian model selection technique that will be able to retrieve distributions for fracture characteristics based on the observed production response. She will employ the fast model developed by Tianrui and also apply some BIG Data techniques to select a set of models that reflect the observed characteristics.
