Engines

  • Ricardo Hydra Mk IV light duty single cylinder SI research engine, Model P8828 with 4 valves and twin overhead camshafts
  • Yanmar L70EE single-cylinder naturally aspirated direct injection (DI) air-cooled diesel engine, 5.8 hp rating
  • VM Motori/DDC 2.5 liter 4-cylinder, common rail, electronically controlled turbo direct injection (DI) diesel engine with open access to the ECU via an ETAS MAC2 interface and Inca v4.1 software
  • Ford 6.4 liter V-8, common rail, turbocharged, direct injection (DI) diesel engine (“Powerstroke”) with open access to the ECU via an ETAS ES590 interface and Inca v6.1 software
  • VM Motori/DDC 2.8 liter 4-cylinder, common rail, electronically controlled turbo direct injection (DI) diesel engine
  • Waukesha CFR Octane Rating Engine

Engine Test Cells

  • 5 kW load bank for operation of small engines coupled to electrical generators
  • 25 Hp eddy current small engine test stand with computerized data acquisition and control system
  • 40 Hp absorbing DC dynamometer (20 Hp motoring) with Labview-based data acquisition system and a Siemens dynamometer control system
  • Two 250 Hp Eaton eddy current dynamometers and test stands with computerized data acquisition and control systems
  • 450 Hp Eaton eddy current dynamometer mounted in a sound reducing enclosure and connected to a computerized data acquisition and control system
  • Waukesha CFR Octane Rating Engine, with optional fuel injector and vaporizer to operate the CFR engine as a rapid compression machine for autoignition studies
