Third round of solicitation for proposals opened on November 15, 2017 and close at 6pm PST January 10, 2018. Submission for proposals is limited to members only. The total amount available for awards under solicitation #RFP2017-03 is approximately $4,098,650.  Estimated funding levels per research area were as follows:

  • Advanced Combustion ($424,100)
  • Carbon Capture ($848,200)
  • Carbon Storage ($542,850)
  • Carbon Use & Reuse ($848,200)
  • Fuel Cell Technologies ($848,200)
  • Gasification ($424,100)
  • Rare Earth Elements ($163,000)

 Selections will be finalized around April 20, 2018

Member university faculty may contact their university TAC and CCAB representatives (in the About Us/ Councils & Boards menu item) for their university log-ins. IDs & passwords are both are case sensitive to log-in. Once you are logged in, the RFP can be found in the 'Members Only' section and clicking on 'RFP03-2017 Instructions' in the left hand 'Members Only' menu. There you will find not only the proposal instructions, but also the pdfs for the environmental questionnaire, intellectual property provisions, & fields required to submit the proposal on-line. There are also commonly asked questions and responses regarding the RFP03-2017.


Second round of solicitation for proposals opened on July 22, 2016 and closed at 6pm PST September 16, 2016. Submission for proposals was limited to members only. The total amount available for awards under solicitation #RFP02-2016 was approximately $2,080,000.  Estimated funding levels per research area were as follows:

  • Carbon Capture ($814,000)
  • Oil and Gas ($407,000)
  • Advanced Combustion ($859,000)

Five (5) projects were selected for funding under solicitation #RFP2016-02 and work has started on them.


First round of solicitation for proposals opened on April 22, 2016 and closed at 9pm PST June, 17, 2016. Submission for proposals was limited to members only. The total amount available for awards under solicitation #RFP01-2016 was approximately $1,925,000.  Estimated funding levels per research area were as follows:

  • Carbon Use and Reuse ($814,000)
  • Carbon Storage ($814,000)
  • Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from Coal ($163,000)
  • Crosscutting Research & Analysis ($134,000)

Six (6) projects were selected for funding under solicitation #RFP2016-01 and work has started on them.
