On August 21, 2019, UCFER released its fifth Request for Proposals to the member Coalition. All proposals were submitted online by 5 p.m. EST on October 9, 2019. Research topics for this round include:

Subtopic S-1: Negative Emissions Technologies–Direct Air Capture

Anticipated Project Period: 24 Months
Maximum Award Size: Approximately $350,000
Expected Number of Awards: 4-8 Awards
Cost Share Requirement: TRL 3: 20% minimum

T: Gasification Systems and Coal & Coal Biomass to Liquid

Subtopic T-1: Modular Small-Scale Coal Derived Syngas to Liquids

Anticipated Project Period: 12-24 Months
Maximum Award Size: $200,000-$424,100
Expected Number of Awards: 0-3 Awards
Cost Share Requirement: TRL 1-2: N/A TRL 3: 20% minimum

U: Natural Gas Technologies

Subtopic U-1: Methane Emissions Quantification from Natural Gas Gathering Lines
